Gilmore Girls: The Real Life DAR (& Its Celebrity Members)
Gilmore Girls ran for seven seasons and followed Lorelai and Rory through many adventures, including Rory’s short stint with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). A ranking favorite (#15) on Medium’s The Television Project: 100 Favorite Shows (via Medium), Gilmore Girls was created by TV legend Amy Sherman-Palladino who was known before Gilmore Girls for television big-hitters like Roseanne and Veronica’s Closet. She followed up her massive success from Gilmore Girls with the Emmy magnet The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. In 2016, Sherman-Palladino made more television dreams come true with the Gilmore Girls revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
Set in the picturesque town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut, Gilmore Girls followed the lives of Rory Gilmore and her mother, Lorelai, as they took on life, love, and junk food. Rory was 16 years old when the series started and a perpetual bookworm, dreaming of going to Harvard and becoming a journalist. Lorelai was 32 years old at the show’s outset and busy leaping the hurdles of being a single mother (in cut-off jean shorts). Through boyfriends and breakups, college, and the tight grip of Lorelai’s parents, Emily and Richard Gilmore, the bond between the Gilmore girls was what drew viewers back again and again.
