Halifa Sallah
Halifa Sallah (born ) is a retired Gambian politician and former National Assembly member for Serrekunda Constituency. He currently serves as the secretary-general of the People's Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS). He served as a spokesman and advisor to PresidentAdama Barrow from during the presidential election campaign until March
Sallah co-founded PDOIS in , and was elected as its secretary-general in He has been a major contributor to Foroyaa, the party's newspaper. He contested elections for the House of Representatives in and , and was an opposer of the Yahya Jammeh regime. He stood unsuccessfully for the National Assembly in , but was elected in , serving until During that time, he also served as Minority Leader. Sallah has also served in the Pan-African Parliament, and was the National Alliance for Democracy and Development (NADD)'s candidate for president in the presidential election, coming third with 6% of the vote.
Early life
Sallah was born and raised in Serekunda, the Gambia, and was educated in the United States, graduating with a degree in sociology. He returned to the Gambia in and worked as a social worker in the Social Welfare Department.
Political career

After returning from the United States in the late s, Sallah became involved with the People's Movement for Independence against Neo-Colonialism and Capitalism (PMINCC). It is also believed that he was one of the editors of The Voice of the Future newspaper. Along with other PMINCC members, he was arrested in October and went on trial in for his involvement in distributing The Voice. He was acquitted but lost his job as a result of the trial.
In , Sallah was one of the founders of the People's Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS). He was elected as its secretary-general in August He also became a major contributor to its newspaper, For Celebrity: Senegalese politician Khalifa Ababacar Sall (born 1 January ) is a Senegalese politician. Sall was elected mayor of Dakar in , then was re-elected, serving until He was expelled from the Socialist Party of Senegal in In March , he was arrested due to being suspected of embezzling billion CFA francs ($3 million). In , he was given a five year prison sentence and was removed from his position as mayor by president Macky Sall (no relation). Macky Sall pardoned him in He was the leader of Manko Taxawu Sénégal in the Senegalese parliamentary election, and was a candidate for President of Senegal in the Senegalese presidential election. Biography
In , when Khalifa Ababacar conquered the town hall of the city of Dakar. With these elections, a political career had just been on the horizon of the Socialist. Khalifa Ababacar became the first municipal judges, the executive body of the municipality. This changed the election of the prerogatives assigned to missions that were once assigned.
