Laura Shigihara is the musical composer of Plants vs. Zombies. She is an actress who voiced the Sunflower who provided a speaking and singing role in "Zombies on Your Lawn" and "Uraniwa ni Zombies ga!" (the Japanese version of Zombies on Your Lawn).

She has a YouTube account called "supershigi." She uploads content about all kinds of video games and music.

Laura plays the American and Japanese version of Plants vs. Zombies. Her mother is French-American, and her father is Japanese. Her favorite plant is Cattail. This is why a Cattail shows up beside her name in the credits.

She is also an independent game developer and developed games like Melolune, a music-based role playing game. She has also participated in Akira Yamaoka's charity iTunes album Play for Japan where she contributed an original song called Jump, which also appeared in her game, Rakuen. She also provided the voice of the singing pet Sunflower in World of Warcraft

In Plants vs. Zombies 2, Laura composed the music for Ancient Egypt. However, after that, she left PopCap after George Fan was laid off. A trailer for Pirate Seas, however, actually uses different music, which was composed by Laura seen here.

Laura Shigihara (Japanese: 鴫原 ローラ, romanized: Shigihara Rōra, born April 16) is an American singer-songwriter, composer, video game developer, and Twitchstreamer of French and Japanese descent. She is best known as the lead composer and sound designer for the tower defense game Plants vs. Zombies and the creator of the acclaimed indie RPGRakuen.

Shigihara has worked on over 30 other published video game titles including Deltarune, World of Warcraft, To the Moon, defunct mobile game High School Story and the 5th Anniversary Edition of Super Meat Boy. She co-created the ending theme song for Minecraft: The Story of Mojang with C418 and worked together with Yasunori Mitsuda on the official Square Enix Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross 20th Anniversary Album.

Early life

Born on April 16 to a Japanese father and a French American mother, Shigihara grew up in both the United States and Japan. She was classically trained on the piano for 11 years and taught herself guitar and drums. While studying International Relations, Business and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, she was given an old version of Sonar (known as Cakewalk since 2018) which she used to start learning about mixing, arranging and production by recreating old video game soundtracks and composing her own songs. After a friend leaked her original material to record companies in Japan, Shigihara was offered record contracts as a singer there, but ended up turning them down for personal reasons.
