Retired Colonel Lynn Guenther, father of Wilsonville High School Head Football Coach Adam Guenther, will share his experiences from his time as a Forward Air Controller (FAC). Lynn Guenther was born on December 30th, , in Glasgow, Montana. In , his family moved to The Dalles, Oregon, where he graduated from The Dalles High School in From to , he attended Linfield College and Oregon State University, where he earned a BS Degree in Economics and received an Air Force commission through the OSU Air Force ROTC program. Over the next 26 years, he had 19 assignments and 17 family moves. While most of his assignments centered on flying operations, several were HQ staff positions or educational assignments. On August 1, , he retired as the Base Commander of Fairchild AFB, Spokane, WA. From to , he served as the City Manager of Hood River, OR, and from to , he owned Gorge Fly Fishing Expeditions and was a Licensed Commercial Real Estate Broker. Lynn has been married to his high school sweetheart, Susan, for 57 years, and they have 3 sons and daughters-in-law, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

For decades, artist, educator and naturalist Lynn Guenther has aimed to create a robust arts and sciences curriculum for students across Santa Cruz County. Guenther has served at local schools, museums and municipal organizations, and during that time, she says she discovered a passion for teaching local history.

“I just love introducing kids to the history of where they live—the natural, the cultural, everything,” she says. “Especially about our watersheds, about how they have helped Santa Cruz thrive. This is a very unique county.”

This passion for local history has resulted in Guenther writing her first novel, Light of the Bay, which is out now.

Guenther says she started working on the book 10 years ago, digging through local museums and libraries. When reading Frank Perry’s Lighthouse Point: Illuminating Santa Cruz, she learned about Laura Hecox, a local legend who spent 50 years living and working as

a lighthouse keeper at Point Santa Cruz. In , Hecox donated 2, items from her vast

personal collection of historical artifacts and scientific specimens to the newly established Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History.

Guenther chronicles Hecox’s life, adopting her voice to give readers a firsthand view of historical events such as the Gold Rush, westward expansion, the persecution of Native Americans and immigrants, the fight for women’s suffrage, the conservation movement

and more.

“Laura is an amazing role model,” Guenther says. “She really knew how important it was to preserve the past and was interested in everything—in coins, architecture, animals. She was so scientific. It was interesting to go into her mind and learn about the people she admired. I got to know her pretty well.”

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a heterogeneous disease characterized by epidermal barrier dysfunction and immune dysregulation. It commonly presents with pruritus and eczematous lesions that significantly impact quality of life.

Abrocitinib is a JAK inhibitor approved for treatment of refractory, moderate-to-severe AD in patients 12 years and older.

A panel of dermatologists from across Canada provided and discussed varying clinical AD phenotypes seen in their clinic. Guided by literature, the panel shared their opinions and insights to provide a holistic view of the overarching question, “Which patients are good abrocitinib candidates?”

The presented real-world cases reflect the panel’s clinical experience. They reported that abrocitinib was a fast-acting, safe, and efficacious therapy for the presented cases. Treatment with abrocitinib may cause transient nausea that frequently resolves by taking it with food. Overall, patients are highly satisfied with the treatment.

Learning Objective: This real-world case series presentation illustrates a variety of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis patient cases to help guide discussions around abrocitinib and describe its treatment strategies used by experts in the field.

He was commissioned through the Air Force ROTC program on June 2, , and went on active duty beginning July 24, Lt Guenther next completed Undergraduate Pilot Training and was awarded his pilot wings at Webb AFB, Texas, in August , followed by survival training and KC Stratotanker Combat Crew Training from September to December His first assignment was as a KC pilot with the th Air Refueling Squadron at March AFB, California, from December to January , during which time he deployed to Southeast Asia twice between April and June He then completed Forward Air Controller training and OV Bronco Combat Crew Training before serving as an OV pilot with the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron at DaNang and Pleiku AB, South Vietnam, and then at Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai AFB, Thailand, from August until he was forced to eject over North Vietnam and was taken as a Prisoner of War on December 26, After spending days in captivity, Capt Guenther was released during Operation Homecoming on February 12, He was briefly hospitalized to recover from his injuries at Travis AFB, California, and then received an Air Force Institute of Technology assignment to complete his master's degree in business administration at the University of Oregon from September to June His next assignment was as Chief of the Customer Assistance Section and Chief of the Personnel Utilization Section in the Consolidated Base Personnel Office with the nd Air Base Group at McClellan AFB, California, from July to July , followed by service as Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies with the Air Force ROTC detachment at Oregon State University from July to January Maj Guenther then returned to flight status as a KC pilot with the 46th Air Refueling Squadron of the th Bomb Wing at K.I.
