INTRODUCTION

In this book, The Pursuit of Titus, I present one of the sons of Apostle Paul, called Titus. I have given this book this title in order to encourage and provoke you to pursue the kind of devotion and submission that Titus had. Paul and Titus shared a special bond, so much so that Paul trusted him and singled him out as a “true son”. This book is a testimony to the genuine sonship of Titus. It is for this reason that the subtitle of this book is, Unveiling True Sonship. True sonship is a mystery that must be unveiled. It is my conviction that as you read this book, you will be encouraged to pursue the manner of sonship which Paul referred to as, true sonship. God in His infinite wisdom decided that He would rule the earth through those who are like Him, His sons and daughters. Because of His great love, He made himself vulnerable to His beloved children when He gave them dominion over the earth (Gen 1:26). Shepherd Bushiri (born 20 February 1983) also known as Major 1 is a Malawian preacher, religious leader, businessman, and author.

Bushiri runs a Christian non-denominational church known as the Enlightened Christian Gathering based in Malawi. The church's first headquarters was in Chibanja, Mzuzu, where it originated. Later, the headquarters was moved to Lilongwe with branches in other African countries and around the world.

He is the founder of Shepherd Bushiri Investments a Sandton-based, near Johannesburg company with interests in forex trading, real estate and in the airline industry. He also owns a television channel, a telecommunications company, various farms, properties, sports academies and universities.

Early life

Bushiri was born and grew up in Mzuzu, which is in the northern part of Malawi and is a Tumbuka by tribe. His mother gave him the name Shepherd due to the complexities around his birth, acknowledging the Lord as her Shepherd.

In August 2018, he was invited as a guest of honour at South Africa's National Day of Inter-faith prayer held at the Emirates Airline Stadium in Johannesburg, during which he offered prayers of reconciliation and unity. The event was attended by South African leading clergy and South Africa's Vice President David Mabuza.

Prosperity theology (sometimes referred to as the prosperity gospel, the health and wealth gospel, the gospel of success, or seed faith) is a religious belief among some Christians, who hold that financial blessing and physical well-being are always the will of God for them, and that faith, positive speech, and donations to religious causes will increase one's material wealth. Prosperity theology views the Bible as a contract between God and humans: if humans have faith in God, he will deliver security and prosperity.

The doctrine emphasizes the importance of personal empowerment, proposing that it is God's will for his people to be blessed. It is based on interpretations of the Bible that are mainstream in Judaism (with respect to the Hebrew Bible), though less so in Christianity. The atonement (reconciliation with God) is interpreted to include the alleviation of sickness and poverty, which are viewed as curses to be broken by faith. This is believed to be achieved through donations of money, visualization, and positive confession. Prosperity theology has been criticized by leaders from various Christian denominations, including within the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, who maintain that it is irresponsible, promotes idolatry, and is contrary to scripture. Secular as well as some Christian observers have also criticized prosperity theology as exploitative of the poor.

Prosperity churches place a strong emphasis on the importance of giving. Some services include a teaching time focused on giving and prosperity, including Biblical references to tithing; and then a sermon on another topic which follows the offering. Prosperity church leaders often claim a specific blessing can be exchanged for the money being donated to their ministry; some have been reported to instruct worshipers to hold their donations above their heads during the prayer.
