KC says there was a period prior to TBF when he was in the band. If this is false, I'm sure the band is legally equipped to put a stop to it. I believe both Jeremey and Hugo, as Journey tribute guys, had separate run-ins with the band's Management.
FF, Neal seems pretty responsive on FB. Why don't you ask him? Or better yet, email Chalfant's label, Clique Records...KC usually answers the emails.
My run-ins with the band had to do with us securing permission to perform at EPCOT as Frontiers. Disney makes all tribute acts for their summer concert series acts obtain permission from the band to spell out how the name can be used to promote the shows, etc – lots of lawyers involved. In 2006, we had the chance to do this, and we were told Steve Perry's attorney did not grant permission for the performance. In 2011, after my brief history with the band, we went back again and were given a list of ultimatums from the band's lawyers, which included taking down our logo (which had nothing to do with Journey, it was a big star behind what appeared to be a big building – a stock image I purchased), because it was too iconically reminiscent of Journey and also deleting all of our videos from YouTube, as well as putting a disclaimer on our website that we were in no way associated or endorsed by the band Journey.
None of this had anything to do with my association with the band.

Musical artist
Kevin Chalfant is an American singer and a native of Streator, Illinois. He obtained a BMI award for co-writing and singing on one of the most frequently aired rock radio hits of 1992 and 1993, "I've Got a Lot to Learn About Love", by The Storm. In October 1993 he very briefly sat in for Steve Perry in Journey, singing lead at a roast for Journey's manager, Herbie Herbert, and in 2003, he toured as lead vocalist for the Alan Parsons Live Project.
Career
707
Chalfant's first national success came when he joined AOR group 707 in 1982. With Chalfant on lead vocals, the band enjoyed its biggest hit, "Mega Force", which peaked at No. 12 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock chart. That success, however, was not enough to assuage internal conflicts and the group disbanded before a follow-up could be recorded.
Steel Breeze
In 1984, Chalfant joined the band Steel Breeze, who were riding the success of their hit single, "You Don't Want Me Anymore." He recorded one album with the band, Heart on the Line, before leaving in 1985. Around that time, he sang "Hold On to the Vision," the theme to the film No Retreat, No Surrender, featuring Joe Satriani on guitar.
The Storm
Chalfant later formed The Storm in 1990 with guitarist Josh Ramos and (former) Journey members Ross Valory (bass), Gregg Rolie (keys), and Steve Smith (drums). Journey, a multi-platinum band that was also no stranger to internal conflict, had undergone several personnel changes over the years. Original member and early vocalist/keyboardist Rolie had left Journey to pursue a solo career in 1980, and Valory and Smith had been "replaced" in the studio and on tour in 1986. Chalfant and Valory had dabbled in the studio with a side band called The Vu (pronounced "The View") as the mega-band's (Journey's) turmoil simmered and its next st If I had to make a list of best singers of all times the name KEVIN CHALFANT would definitely be included. If I had to make a list of best albums of all times I would most definitely mention the 2 THE STORM albums. If I had to pick the best replacement singer for STEVE PERRY in JOURNEY then KEVIN CHALFANT would be it. 3 statements I would have made up 10 years ago, the present day and probably also in the future. Well, besides all that, Kevin is a very nice gentleman, with whom I had a very nice interview to talk about the past, the present and the upcoming year 2008, let's see what Kevin has to say... This is the first time I do an interview with you, so I would first like to go back to the beginning, what were your first music experiences? I remember singing at my next door neighbors house when I was younger than the first grad. My neighbor was also my first grade teacher. Her name was Loretta Condon and she taught me Irish folk songs. Probably your first real band must have been 707, with whom you had success with the MEGAFORCE album, can you please tell me all about it? I flew to Northern California to meet the band after long time friend George Tutko (engineer/producer) recommended me for the lead vocalist position. I met with the band and jammed. We hit it off and the rest is history. Then you went on recording an amazing album with STEEL BREEZE titled 'Heart on the line', but somehow this record was never released until the mid 90s?? We recorded the music as independent artists without a record deal. The record was later released as a limited edition CD. That band performed a lot of gigs. Anyway, in the mid 80s you started working with JOURNEY members on a band called THE VIEW, years later released as THE VU... Ross Valory and I met at Steve Jarvis' home (original Journey engineer). We had a great time that day. He played me tunes and I played him tunes. We decided to meet again and jam. When I showed up, Pra Open Arms by Kevin Chalfant
