Family affair: HJC fields Renuka Bishnoi from Adampur
The family has been winning the seat for the past 43 years. Kuldeep's father Bhajan Lal, who used to run a cloth shop in Adampur in the early 60s, had won his first assembly election from this constituency in 1968.The family is still running a shop of aadat (commission agent) at Adampur Mandi.
Besides Bhajan Lal, his wife Jasma Devi and son Kuldeep have also represented the constituency in the state assembly. Recently, Adampur seat in Hisar district fell vacant as sitting MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi (43) was elected from Hisar Lok Sabha seat in a recent bye-election.
"We have won 22 elections out of total 25 polls, in which family members contested from different constituencies and levels," Kuldeep said proudly. In the early 60s, Bhajan Lal first time became member in the village panchayat of Adampur. After that he won the assembly election and then rose to be a chief minister and Union minister. He died recently.
Though, this would be first poll battle for Renuka Bishnoi, a graduate in commerce. In reply to a question related with promotion of family politics, Kuldeep said: "What is wrong, if a doctor's son becomes medical practitioner and lawyer's son joins legal profession."
"In present case, party workers and people of Adampur constituency had suggested the candidature of my mother Jasma Devi or wife Renuka Bishnoi. When my mother denied to contest the poll battle, we were left with one name," Bishnoi explained while defending party's decision to field his wife."
Not only this, upbeat HJC chief also challenged Haryana chief minister Bhupinder SinghHooda and Indian National Lok Dal general secretary Ajay Singh Chautalato fiel
