Akkaran is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language suspense crime film film written and directed by Arun K Prasad. The film stars M. S. Bhaskar and Kabali Vishwanth, and was produced by KKD under the banner of Kundram Productions.
Plot
Veerapandi, whose younger daughter Priya first went missing before being found dead, is determined to find out what exactly happened with her. He knows that both the individuals he has zeroed in on have something to do with the death of his daughter. However, both have different versions of what actually transpired

Abhinav Subramanian of The Times of India rated the film 2 out of 5 stars, writing "Debut director Arun K Prasad throws in a few interesting curveballs in Akkaran. As you watch the events unfold and the full extent of what happened to this family hits you, something strange happens."
Manigandan KR of Times Now gave the film 2.5 out of 5 stars, stating "A decent crime revenge thriller that manages to reasonably succeed in its mission of entertaining the audience". Additionally, a Dinakaran critic gave the film a mixed review.

M. Bhaskar (3 April 1935 – 12 July 2013) was an Indian filmmaker who worked mainly in the Tamil film industry. Bhaskar started his film career as an assistant to director C. V. Sridhar. After relieving from his mentor and guru C. V. Sridhar, he was working under Sundaram's Modern Theaters, Chinnappa Thevar along with S. P. Muthuraman, Panju Arunachalam, Thuyavan, Uthiripookkal Balakrishnan and others. He also worked as a second unit Director for 20th Century Fox, during their production in Goa, India.
Early life and career
M. Bhaskar hailed from a village called Pattamputhur, Virudhunagar district. He started his career as an associate to C. V. Sridhar starting from movie Venniradai followed by list of notable films he worked Kodimalar, Nenjirukkum Varai, Ooty Varai Uravu, Avalukendru Or Manam, Sivantha Mann, Uttharavindri Ulle Vaa also in Hindi films Pyar Kiye Jaa, Gehri Chaal, Nai Roshni, Dharti. He made his directorial debut with Bairavi. The film gave major breakthrough in the career of Rajinikanth as a lead actor. Rajini gained the tag "Superstar" from this film.
Bairavi is a 1978Tamil feature film directed by M. Baskar and starring Rajinikanth. It was Rajinikanth's first movie as a solo hero in Tamil cinema. Muthupettai Somu Bhaskar (born 13 September 1957) is an Indian actor and dubbing artiste who appears in Tamil films. His career begun as a theatre artist, and made his debut in 1987 in a minor role in the film Thirumathi Oru Vegumathi, followed by several minor roles in the 1990s. He got breakthrough in Engal Anna (2004), then he became a regular cast and widely recognized supporting and comedy actor in Tamil cinema.
In addition to acting, Bhaskar is an occasional playback singer as well. He is best known for his performances in the series Chinna Papa Periya Papa (2000), Selvi (2005) and Arasi (2007).
He won the Best Character Artiste in Mozhi (2007), the Best Actor in a supporting Role in 8 Thottakkal (2017) and Best Villain for his performance in Parking (2023).
Career
Bhaskar, who hails from Muthupettai, near Pattukkottai was born and brought up in Nagapattinam, he was a part of a Tamil drama troupe 'Society for New Drama' which performed modern theatrical plays in Tamil Nadu. To supplement his income, Bhaskar also worked as an LIC agent for a brief period. Bhaskar acted in a number of other troupes including Nungambakkam Boys Kondatum and also worked in All India Radio and Doordarshan. Before acting, he worked in a toothpaste company.
During this period, Bhaskar began as a dubbing artist especially for dubbing Telugu films into Tamil where he spoke the comedian's lines. He also dubs English language films into Tamil for Sun TV.
