The ERAS Fellowships process begins with your request to EFDO for an ERAS token; a unique identifier which provides you access to MyERAS. You will then be able to complete the MyERAS application, select programs, and submit supporting documents.

Tip: Once you certify and submit your MyERAS application, it will be locked to make sure that all programs receive an identical application. While you cannot make changes to the MyERAS application once you have certified and submitted it, you are encouraged to keep your Personal Information in the Application section updated throughout the season.

Fellowship programs set individual standards regarding application deadlines, eligibility criteria, etc. Therefore, it is important that you research and contact programs of interest prior to applying to programs. It is your responsibility to research each program's participation status, requirements, and deadlines before you apply. When you contact the program(s), make sure to clarify what they mean by deadline. For example, is it the date the program wants your MyERAS application, with supporting documents and exam scores to follow, or must they have your COMPLETE application by this date?

ERAS is a dynamic process that will transmit new information and documents until the end of the season (May 31). ERAS will not refund fees if you submit your application after a program's deadline. It is your responsibility to confirm that you meet all eligibility requirements and program deadlines before applying by contacting programs directly.

    NRMP Match
Programs who accept applications through ERAS may also participate in the NRMP® match. The NRMP manages the Specialties Matching Service® for certain specialties. If you plan to participate in the NRMP match for your preferred specialty, you must register separately with the NRMP. For more information, including which specialties participate and their individual match schedules, please visit the NRMP at ht

    Using the MyERAS Application

You do not have to complete the entire application at one time, and it can be complete in any order that works best for you. For details, please see the Application section of the MyERAS user guide.

The MyERAS program does not allow you to customize or personalize your MyERAS application for individual programs. You only have one MyERAS application that will be sent to all programs applied to in the MyERAS system.

    • You may customize your application for individual programs or groups of programs in the same specialties using the assignment of specific ERAS documents such as Personal Statements and LoRs.

    • You are not required to complete your MyERAS application in one sitting and are advised to take your time working on each section as desired.

    • Information in each section of the MyERAS application can be stored individually.

    • You may change information in their MyERAS application at any time prior to certifying and submitting.

Support and Guidance While Completing Your Application

    • The ERAS HelpDesk is available to assist all applicants with technical support regarding inquires and issues related to the MyERAS web application.

    • Fellowship applicants seeking support in completing the content of the MyERAS application or relevant documents are advised to use their best judgment and reach out to their Designated Dean’s Office for further guidance.

Keeping Your Personal Information Up to Date

We recommend that you complete as much of your Personal Information as soon as possible. Personal Information is very important to the programs to which applicants have applied to; therefore, it is essential that t

Welcome to the ERAS Fellowships Documents Office (EFDO), an online service exclusively for medical residents and fellows to support the centralized processing of fellowship application materials submitted via ERAS. The EFDO is the "Designated Dean's Office" whether you are a U.S. medical school graduate or an international medical school graduate. All medical school graduates request their electronic token here.

MyERAS is used by fellowship applicants to apply for specialized graduate training in fellowship programs in the U.S. As the Designated Dean's Office for fellowship applicants, the EFDO establishes policies and procedures for document processing for fellowship applicants. During the season, the EFDO receives and attaches supporting documents to applicant files and electronically transmits those documents through ERAS to programs designated by the applicant. The supporting documents are:

    • Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
    • Medical School Transcript
    • Letters of Recommendation (LoRs)
    • Photograph
    • ABSITE Transcript (for surgical fellowships only)

All documents will take up to five (5) business days to process to ERAS from the date they are uploaded through EFDO Online Services, MIDUS, or the AAMC’s Letter of Recommendation Portal (LoRP).

There are two application cycles for ERAS Fellowships: the July Application Cycle and the December Application Cycle. Be sure to read the fellowship applicant timeline information posted for your specialty of interest.

If you would like to request an ERAS 2025 fellowship token to begin your application process, click the Token Request button below. There is a $165.00 non-refundable processing fee for token requests. The ERAS 2025 token expires on May 31, 2025.

Applicants must apply directly to fellowship programs in addition to registering for the Match and should check with programs to find out how they want to receive applications.
